Transport and Surveillance Aspects of Location-Based Services (2009)
Journal Article
Wigan, M., & Clarke, R. A. (2009). Transport and Surveillance Aspects of Location-Based Services. Transportation research record, 2105, 92-99. https://doi.org/10.3141/2105-12

Transport is a series of movements between locations, and considerable efforts are spent to secure details of such movements for planning and modeling purposes. This paper considers the issues raised when such information is secured too well, as well... Read More about Transport and Surveillance Aspects of Location-Based Services.

Delivering infrastructure and land use transport integration policy: examining good governance issues in Melbourne and Perth. (2009)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Legacy, C., Sturup, S., Curtis, C., & Wigan, M. (2009, September). Delivering infrastructure and land use transport integration policy: examining good governance issues in Melbourne and Perth. Presented at Australian Transport Research Forum

Governance is a difficult topic to address in the often controversial area of transport and planning. Good governance allows issues associated with balancing different interests, objectives and pressures, to be addressed and solved - but its absence... Modelling motorcycles driving cycles and emissions in Edinburgh (2009)
Thesis
Kumar, R. Modelling motorcycles driving cycles and emissions in Edinburgh. (Thesis). Edinburgh Napier University. http://researchrepository.napier.ac.uk/id/eprint/3047

The level of ownership and use of motorcycling has increased rapidly in Edinburgh and the UK in the last ten years. In this study, motorcycle driving cycles (rural and urban) were developed for Edinburgh (Edinburgh Motorcycle Driving cycle-EMDC). The... The design of a CCTV system for use in a hazardous atmosphere (2009)
Thesis
Gordon, C. The design of a CCTV system for use in a hazardous atmosphere. (Thesis). Edinburgh Napier University. http://researchrepository.napier.ac.uk/id/eprint/6693

The aim of the project was to develop a new Pan, Tilt and Zoom (PTZ) camera station that could be used in the petrochemical industry. The petrochemical industry presents a number of unique environmental restrictions that impact new product design. Th... Read More about The design of a CCTV system for use in a hazardous atmosphere.

The effects of a distractor on the visual gaze behaviour of children at signalized road crossings (2009)
Journal Article
Egan, C. D., Willis, A., & Wincenciak, J. (2009). The effects of a distractor on the visual gaze behaviour of children at signalized road crossings. Journal of Vision, 9(8), https://doi.org/10.1167/9.8.371

Children are over-represented in pedestrian injuries. This may be explained, at least in part, by poorer attentional mechanisms at the roadside compared with skilled adults. We have recently shown that children are more likely to attend to task-irrel... Read More about The effects of a distractor on the visual gaze behaviour of children at signalized road crossings.

An evaluation of the transport to employment (T2E) scheme in Highland Scotland using social return on investment (SROI) (2009)
Journal Article
Wright, S., Nelson, J. D., Cooper, J. M., & Murphy, S. (2009). An evaluation of the transport to employment (T2E) scheme in Highland Scotland using social return on investment (SROI). Journal of Transport Geography, 17(6), 457-467. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jtrangeo.2008.10.006

This paper presents findings from an evaluation of transport to employment (T2E) in rural Highland Scotland. T2E is a centrally co-ordinated shared transport service which provides access to workplace, training and childcare where no alternative tran... Typology of long-term port efficiency Improvement paths: malmquist total factor productivity for world container ports (2009)
Journal Article
Cheon, S., Dowall, D. E., & Song, D.-W. (2009). Typology of long-term port efficiency Improvement paths: malmquist total factor productivity for world container ports. Journal of Infrastructure Systems, 15(4), 340-350. https://doi.org/10.1061/%28ASCE%291076-0342%282009%2915%3A4%28340%29

The global seaport sector made huge efforts in relation to port reform and technological development since the 1990s. This study attempts to systematically estimate the impacts of these efforts on world ports’ efficiency changes between 1991 and 2004...
