European Metropolitan Transport Authorities

Location Budapest Description Dr Achille Fonzone participated in the meeting of the European Metropolitan Transport Authorities (http://emta.com/) in Budapest on 12.5.16. Prof Jan-Dirk Schmoecker from Kyoto University and Dr Fonzone presented and discussed the first results of their research on public transport fare structure. The survey highlights that public transport authorities are generally concerned with the “fairness” of their fares. However “fair fare” has different meanings in different contexts. The research attracted the interest of the very qualified audience, including representatives of the main transport authorities in Europe and members of the consortium of CIPTEC - Collective Innovation for Public Transport in European Cities (http://ciptec.eu/).
