ENhance: the key to programme identity and cohesion? - Presentation to The Gathering 2023, ENU's learning, teaching and pedagogy conference
2023

Description In June 2023 I presented my work around the "ENhance" framework, and how I see its potential as a unifying foundation for the IFEM programme that I lead. Over the previous 12 months, I had worked with colleagues to develop an understanding of how programme already exhibits dimensions of ENhance. In more recent months I had used this analysis to build up a more aspirational side to the project, showing how ENhance could underpin efforts to create an identity, ethos and culture around the IFEM programme.

Festival Sustainability Symposium: Facing the Sector's Headwinds
2022 - 2023

Description On Thursday 29 July, 2023, Edinburgh Napier University hosted the Festival Sustainability Symposium, at Craiglockhart. I led the development, planning, fundraising, and delivery of the event.

I worked with ENU colleagues throughout the process, covering the following tasks between us : chairing sessions; sitting on panels; presenting papers; providing technical support; liaising with speakers before, during and after the event; working with the campus Conferences team; working with the University's marking team to build an online presence.

We had 70 attendees on the day, from a range of backgrounds. Just over half were from academia. Around a quarter worked in festivals, events and related fields. There were also a number of governmental attendees, from both local and national government. We also welcomed freelancers and students.

The day went well, and we are proud of the number of connections made, projects developed, and areas of knowledge shared.

Podcast: ENhancing Curricula: Tales from International Festival & Events Management
2023

Description In this podcast I discussed my "ENhance Narratives" project with Cameron Graham, of Edinburgh Napier's Department of Learning and Teaching Enhancement. We talked about how the project came into being, what it took from my colleagues and me to make it happen, and where the work has been shared with both students and staff. We also look to the future at how this could help with future efforts to build the International Festival & Event Management programme's identity, and to support its ongoing development.

Blended learning project case study: Planning and Public Policy for F&E (TSM09102)
2022 - 2023

Description My experiences of delivering a blended version of an undergraduate module were used as a case study for some research into blended learning. I was interviewed by a researcher from Glasgow Caledonian University, who has been working with an Edinburgh Napier colleague. The resulting case study explores my experiences of instigating a post-Covid blended approach to lecture delivery: some lecture classes were delivered online, some in person, during the autumn 2022 term.

Edinburgh based coordination in support of research and study trips by students of Breda University (The Netherlands).
2010 - 2019

Description For a number of years, students and lecturers from Breda University in The Netherlands travelled to Edinburgh on research and study trips. I took on a role of coordinating parts of their visits, depending on the nature of each trip. In total hundreds of students made the journey. My roles included: delivering lectures on Edinburgh Napier campuses; organising guest lecture visits; coordinating industry projects; arranging accommodation; supporting social events. The trips took place every year (at least once) from 2010 to 2016, and again in 2019.
