Incentives to Motivate Active Mobility

People Involved

Project Description

In addition to reducing carbon emissions, active mobility (i.e., walking and cycling) improves citizens’ health by increasing physical fitness and well-being. In many cases, however, citizens exhibit habitualized usage behavior and – despite the inherent disadvantages – continue to rely too heavily on motorized modes of transport. Promoting a shi to active mobility is therefore a priority for EIT Urban Mobility. This project aims to create a training program on how to incentivize people to gradually adopt active forms of mobility. This is achieved by evaluating existing initiaves and approaches to motivate active mobility across Europe. We will identify best practices to develop four specific use cases reflecting the needs and requirements of target audiences as represented by particular personas.Project output will be the creation of gamified digital training courses which will support cities, businesses and other instituons in creating active mobility-based ecosystems.
