Music by John Hails in new CD release
Mar 20, 2018

Summary 'enlightenment' for solo microtonal trumpet was written for Stephen Altoft, and premiered at St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh on 4th November 2016.
The work 'transcribes' the final poem that the poet Simon Howard uploaded to his blog before his early and untimely death.
This is the second version of the work that John has completed, the first having been composed for solo harp.
The work is an attempted expression of the unsayable with the trumpet repeatedly attempting to articulate something against a wash of the sounds of clocks, falling water, and the cries of foxes.
