Abstract

Dr Jackie Cameron shares the experience of serving as a mentor on the 12-week pilot mentorship programme that aimed to improve the student experience and outcomes of PhD students at the right-up stage. Presenting at a workshop entitled 'Honey, We Shrunk a Thesis Mentoring Programme! - Vitae 2024', she shares the details of a mentoring training workshop and the challenges and rewards of serving as a PhD mentor to a PhD student at another school. In attendance at the workshop run jointly by Dr Vani Naik of Edinburgh Napier University and Dr Elaine Gourlay of the University of Glasgow were stakeholders from other UK universities exploring developing and launching similar projects.
