The project team (including Colin Hindle from Advanced Materials and Research Assistant Ari Loughlin) created a prototype 3D printable filament utilising waste textiles (selvedge cut from looms provided by the companies Bute, Calzeat and Begg and Co and leather waste from the Scottish Leather Group).
The prototype material combined waste materials with PLA (polylactic acid) and is being developed more fully.
