Academic Accreditation Assessor for the IMechE
2024

Description An Academic Accreditation Assessor supports the Institution’s Academic Standards Committee (ASC) in shaping the academic standards for the engineers of tomorrow.

Comprising of experienced Academic and Industrialist volunteers, the ASC is responsible, on behalf of the IMechE, for the conduct of accreditation visits, compiling accreditation reports and making recommendations in respect of accrediting undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses.

Accreditation is an external, independent assessment that gives students, parents and employers the confidence that a particular degree meets the standard for registration with the Engineering Council as a Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.

Member of the International Science Council Global Roster of Experts
2024

Description The International Science Council (ISC) plays a crucial role in ensuring that science is central to addressing the world’s most pressing issues, particularly those on the United Nations (UN) agenda. The ISC has established a Global Roster of Experts – a diverse and highly qualified group of individuals from around the world who stand ready to contribute their expertise.

The ISC’s Global Roster of Experts will serve multiple functions, all contributing to the ISC’s mission to promote science as a global public good. Experts on the roster may be called upon to:

Provide ad-hoc science advice to the UN Secretariat and Member States

Prepare high-level policy briefs that inform critical multilateral discussions

Draft statements on behalf of the global scientific community to amplify science’s voice in international dialogues

Intervene as speakers for high-level debates, conferences, and panels where scientific expertise can inform policy decisions

This expert network is designed to bridge the gap between science and policy, ensuring that global decision-makers have access to credible, timely, and context-specific scientific advice that can drive progress on the most urgent global challenges.

2024

Description Interviewers carry out a review of an applicant's written submission and their performance at a Professional Review Interview. They then make a recommendation to our Professional Review Committee.

In most cases, interviews measure applicants against the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) requirements. They can take place in the UK or in one of over a hundred other countries where we have locally-based members.
