Biography Dr. Stathis Tingas is a Chartered Engineer (IMechE) and Lecturer in Engineering Mathematics at Edinburgh Napier University, specializing in mathematical modeling, computational simulations, and the optimization of complex multi-scale systems. He holds a BScH in Aeronautical Science, an MSc in Applied Mechanics, and a PhD in Mechanics, with a career spanning academia, industry, and military aviation, including roles as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at KAUST, Lecturer in Engineering and Aviation, and Jet Engine Fleet Manager in the Hellenic Air Force. He has secured over £900k in research funding as PI and Co-PI, with 93% from external sources and 77% as PI, and has published extensively in leading Q1 journals. He is a grant reviewer for major international funding bodies and has organized and led high-impact international conferences on renewable energy, electromobility, and hydrogen technologies. As the editor of a Springer textbook on hydrogen thermal engines, his work has garnered over 20,000 downloads, reflecting its broad academic and industrial impact. Committed to STEM outreach, he has engaged over 800 high school pupils in engineering workshops and hands-on activities, promoting wider access to science and technology education. His contributions to higher education, accreditation, and industry engagement reinforce his leadership in research and professional practice.
Research Interests Dr Stathis Tingas' research focuses on the areas of mathematical modelling and dynamics analysis of multiscale systems (chemical kinetics, brain metabolism, pharmacokinetics, population dynamics), the high fidelity (multi-dimensional) modeling of turbulent reacting flows with an emphasis on hydrogen and biofuel combustion and the mathematical modelling of EV-related technology.
