Biography Catherine has a broad clinical and academic experience which encompasses specialist experience in clinical diabetes management in children and adolescents, as well as education both in the health sector and HEI.

Catherine started her career first as a General Nurse (Adult) and then as a Registered Sick Children's Nurse, and has a range of experience as a qualified nurse including managing a surgical gynaecology unit and later working in the Children's Emergency Department .

In 1996 Catherine joined the Endocrinology Department of the RHSC Edinburgh as a Research Nurse, later becoming a Specialist Nurse in Endocrinology and Adolescent Diabetes, before becoming a full time lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University in Child Health.

Catherine has a passion for teaching, and continues to have an interest in endocrinology and diabetes; she is committed to providing students (and health professionals) with the tools and knowledge to promote greater understanding and confidence in dealing with all issues relating to child health nursing.

Catherine also has an interest in research, particularly around compassionate care in child health nursing, and academic writing skills in undergraduate student nurses.
