Biography Dr Vasiliki (Vicky) Dimitriadi is a Civil Engineer (MEng, MSc, PhD, FHEA) having completed her studies in Greece (National Technical University of Athens, NTUA) and the United States (University of California, Berkeley). She obtained her PhD under the research project Heraclitus II, under the auspices of the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF). After obtaining industrial experience as a Civil/Geotechnical Engineering consultant in Greece, she joined Edinburgh Napier University as a Lecturer in 2018.
Her current research interests include the numerical modelling of soil behaviour using various numerical simulation tools (using both the Finite Different FDM and Discrete Element Method – DEM) under static and cyclic/earthquake loading. Recent research projects relate to ground improvement methods, rubber-sand mixtures, PSD analysis and effects, liquefaction-induced shallow foundation settlements.
Research Interests Liquefaction; shallow foundations; soil dynamics; soil improvement methods
