Optical performance modelling of an atypical 3-D cross compound parabolic photovoltaic concentrator using ray trace technique (2010)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Sellami, N., Mallick, T. K., & Mcneil, D. (2010). Optical performance modelling of an atypical 3-D cross compound parabolic photovoltaic concentrator using ray trace technique. In Photovoltaic Science and Technology Conference-6 (PVSAT-6), Southampton, U

The electricity productions by free fuel solar cells represent one of the best solutions for reducing CO 2 emission and surpassing oil crisis. Large scale photovoltaic power generation showed a good efficiency in production, but small scale installat... Optimised Dielectric Totally Internally Reflecting Concentrator for the Solar Photonic Optoelectronic Transformer System: Maximum Concentration Method (2010)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Muhammad-Sukki, F., Ramirez-Iniguez, R., McMeekin, S. G., Stewart, B. G., & Clive, B. (2010). Optimised Dielectric Totally Internally Reflecting Concentrator for the Solar Photonic Optoelectronic Transformer System: Maximum Concentration Method. In Knowl

Renewable energies have become a matter of global attention during the last few years, with solar energy being a major focus. Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) system is an example of solar energy applications. This paper describes the Solar Ph... Non-dissipative boundary feedback for elastic beams (2010)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Guiver, C., & Opmeer, M. R. (2010). Non-dissipative boundary feedback for elastic beams. In Proceedings of the 19th International Symposium on Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems - MTNS 2010

We show that a non-dissipative feedback that has been shown in the literature to exponentially stabilize an Euler-Bernoulli beam makes a Rayleigh beam and a Timoshenkobeam unstable.

ISIR: Informed sensitised intelligent response-A PSS conceptual design framework using service characteristics (2010)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Hussain, R. S., Lockett, H., Kingston, J., Alcock, J., & Vasantha, G. (2010). ISIR: Informed sensitised intelligent response-A PSS conceptual design framework using service characteristics. In APMS 2010 International Conference: Competitive and Sustainab

This paper considers two dominant definitions of services in the service literature and then proposes a set of service characteristics which have been derived from Service Dominant Logic. These characteristics are then used to chart the differences a... Read More about ISIR: Informed sensitised intelligent response-A PSS conceptual design framework using service characteristics.

The role of contestable processes in advancing sustainability in transport and planning. (2010)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Wigan, M. (2010). The role of contestable processes in advancing sustainability in transport and planning.

Sustainable transport requires not only solid evidence to support policy and practice, but also to allow this to be examined with a high degree of transparency. Not all technical reports have the supporting evidence (or indeed models) made readily av... Read More about The role of contestable processes in advancing sustainability in transport and planning..

How best to evaluate mobility management projects: can psychological theory help? (2010)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Carreno, M., Bamberg, S., Rye, T., & Welsch, J. (2010). How best to evaluate mobility management projects: can psychological theory help?.

In order to persuade both policy makers and practitioners to adopt mobility management (MM) strategies there is a need for these decision makers to accept, understand and be able to predict (with confidence) their likely effectiveness. To satisfy the... Read More about How best to evaluate mobility management projects: can psychological theory help?.

Regional hub port development – the case of Montevideo Uruguay. (2010)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Wilmsmeier, G., Martínez-Zarzoso, I., & Fiess, N. (2010). Regional hub port development – the case of Montevideo Uruguay. In Proceedings of the Annual Conference of the International Association of Maritime Economists

This paper reflects on port development in Uruguay in an environment of trilateral interport competition. The regional characteristics of port development in terms of their geographical, functional and operational characteristics are discussed by ana... Environmental sustainability in the construction Industry in developing countries: a study of embodied energy of low-cost housing. (2010)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Mpakati Gama, E., Wamuziri, S., & Sloan, B. (2010). Environmental sustainability in the construction Industry in developing countries: a study of embodied energy of low-cost housing.

The embodied energy (EE) of a residential building is estimated at 20-40% of operation energy over its total usable life. However, this varies from one context to the other due to the primary energy used, technological advancement of a particular...
