Abstract

Jupiter Artland is an internationally known sculpture garden outside Edinburgh which is home to one of the most exciting private collections in the UK today. Works by some of the world’s leading contemporary sculptors, Anish Kapoor, Antony Gormley, Marc Quinn, Charles Jencks and Andy Goldsworthy as well as up and coming artists have been commissioned and created for the space they occupy in the Artland. This book gives an insight into the commissioning process with words from the artists and the collectors both in written and audio form. The collection comprises 34 sculptures by 16 artists.

An essay by Fiona Bradley, Turner prize judge and director of Edinburgh’s Fruitmarket Gallery gives an interesting overview. Jupiter Artland is open to the public during the summer months for visits and runs a free educational programme throughout the year. Stunning photographs show the works in their beautiful and everchanging environments and the bedding down that has occurred over the time since they were installed.

This Book includes information, biography and photos of 16 artists.

Artist statements and photos of the 34 sculptures.

An Essay by Fiona Bradley giving an overview of the Artland.

An Essay from Iain Gale written in anticipation of the Artland.
