Abstract

The chapter recommends that travel survey community take advantage of recent developments in computing technology and in the information sciences, in particular the development of languages or systems that make the development of common professional metadata standards feasible at reasonable cost and in reasonable time. These contributions should reflect their particular concerns, especially in the analysis of survey nonresponse. The chapter continues with a discussion of general tabulation systems based on Data Documentation Initiative and possible extensions from a travel survey perspective and discusses the next steps and a possible organizational frame for them
