Integrating QoS management within a Web Service architecture

Chrysoulas, Christos

Authors

Abstract

Web Services are applications that expose functionality to consumers via public interfaces. Web-services support the concept of loosely coupled components, which in turn enables the development of more agile and open systems. However, this flexibility comes at the price of reduced control and low QoS management over the usage of the services that are exposed via the interfaces. In this paper, an overview on Web services and their qualities are described, and a new architecture which permits the management of QoS is presented. The proposed architecture supports QoS management by integrating a new layer in the Web Service architecture.
