Project Description

To analyse the rise, decline, and rise again of Strathpeffer Spa, c.1850-2014. This project will provide insight into the history and development of a distinctive, business-related highland community; further our understanding of the history of tourism in Scotland; explore ways in which advertising/marketing techniques have been used in the development of Scotland as a tourist destination, and investigate how a tourism-based local economy has drawn upon its past to ensure its future.
