Project Description
3PO will build an understanding of public-facing professionals -specific risks, harms and privacy needs; co-create advanced tools, mechanisms and solutions that are cognisant of PFP-specific challenges empowering secure participation online; re-configure privacy and consent around profession-specific and collective decisions and negotiation processes. The project will do so utilizing a highly experienced consortium of applied and policy researchers from Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, UCL and Napier led by the globally connected security research Centre of Excellence in Terrorism, Resilience, Intelligence and Organised Crime Research (CENTRIC) at Sheffield Hallam University. To guarantee outcomes are co-developed with and fully pertinent for our target group, our project comprises six UK police forces (Metropolitan Police – MET, Police Scotland, Police Service Northern Ireland – PSNI, South Yorkshire Police – SYP, Lancashire Police, Humberside Police), the Home Office and SIPR (Scottish Institute for Policing Research, through Dr Aston as Director of SIPR) as active research partners. The co-designed solutions will ensure reactive and proactive harm reduction all levels of analysis individual, family/profession-specific groups and organisation, supporting full and safe participation of law enforcement PFPs (LPFPs) and their dependants in today’s digital economy.
