This project aims to investigate the integration of a cipher policy for the protection of data, and how these can be applied into a cloud-based infrastructure. A key focus for the implementation will be in the creation of a simple cipher policy for the access to documents and which splits an encryption key into a number of secret shares, and then distributed these across different systems. This will use the latest elliptic curve cryptography, along with implementing the Shamir method for generating secret shares. The work will also investigate the integration of CP-ABE (Cipher Policy - Attribute Based Encryption), and where the access could then be based on users providing the correct attributes to be able to generate the encryption key required to access a document.
