The truth about cybersecurity in 7 words – 2018 (poster competition in cybersecurity)
People Involved
Project Description
In a recent report by International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2, it is estimated there will be a global shortfall of 1.5 million cybersecurity professionals by 2019, so the cybersecurity career opportunities are certainly available. On the other hand, females are hugely under-represented at all levels within the cybersecurity industry. The lack of women in cybersecurity is something that the UK government, the industry and university are keen to address. Therefore, this event aims to inspire more people, particularly more women, into cybersecurity roles by bringing together the cyber men and cyber women from across the UK in the form of a poster competition. The event will be held in collaboration with Edinburgh Napier University and The Cyber Academy and in parallel with International Conference of Big Data in cybersecurity. Having this competition held in parallel with the above conference, not only connects males and females in cybersecurity to leading industrial experts but also provides for greater collaboration amongst Scottish universities and leading industries. We hope that the delegates will engage with industrial contacts for future partnerships and research-based industrial collaborations. The free cost of the event makes it an affordable home-based conference in Scotland.
