Trisent: Innovation Voucher for Personal Context Data Project

This is a small project to initiate an engagement following an unsuccessful application for a larger Data Lab project.
Trisent’s core technology is called the Personal Context Management System (PCMS) which gathers context data into a database and allows users to take ownership of all of their smartphone centric personal data. The company has already built an automated diary app (Orla) that presents data from the PCMS in a useful way based on where the user is (a ‘stay’) and information about what they did there, and the ‘journeys’ that connect these stays and contextual information about how they travelled. Currently there are about 100 beta users generating vast amounts of personal context data into the PCMS on a daily basis.
So far Trisent has only ‘scratched the surface’ in terms of extracting value from these unique personal data sets. A poll of our current beta users showed that 80% of them are already deriving a direct benefit from the diary information we give them and one third of users have found ‘unexpected benefits’ from the data. We wish to work with experts to help reveal its hidden dimensions and unlock greater benefits. This will help make Trisent’s services more compelling and achieve the aim of attracting millions of users to the PCMS technology. Storing extensive personal data for millions of users requires a high level of user trust in privacy and security measures and this is another area where Trisent wishes to benefit from external expertise.
