Biography Clare is a Lecturer in Public Sector Innovation at The Business School of Edinburgh Napier University and a member of the Unity Lab Team. She holds a BEng (Hons) in Civil and Transportation Engineering from Edinburgh Napier University and a BEng in Civil Engineering from the Atlantic Technological University (formerly GMIT). Her academic journey, shaped by a deep interest in urban mobility and sustainable transport, led her to complete an MSc in Environmental Sustainability, followed by a doctoral degree in Transport Policy.

Clare’s PhD research investigated the barriers to bus policy implementation at the local level in Great Britain. This work involved close collaboration with local authorities, regional and national transport organisations, and local bus companies, providing her with valuable insights into policy dynamics and stakeholder engagement.

Following her doctoral studies, Clare joined the Active Travel team at the City of Edinburgh Council, contributing to initiatives that promoted sustainable urban transportation. She later returned to the Transport Research Institute at Edinburgh Napier University, where she worked on several high-impact projects, including shared mobility, bicycle safety, and the HEART project (Hydrogen Electric and Automated Regional Transportation). The HEART project aimed to develop the world’s first hydrogen-powered, automated aircraft for sub-regional travel.

Currently, Clare's research brings together her interests in emerging technologies within the transport field. She is focusing on the technology acceptance of Unmanned and Autonomous Vehicles (UAVs), contributing to the broader understanding of public sector innovation and the integration of advanced transport technologies.

Clare has presented her research at national and international conferences, including the World Conference on Transport Research in Shanghai. Her scholarly work has been published in leading academic journals such as Analytic Methods in Accident Research, Transport Policy, Case Studies on Transport Policy, and Utilities Policy.
