Dr Cletus Moobela

Biography	Dr Cletus Moobela is a Chartered Surveyor and an Associate Professor in Real Estate at the School of Engineering & the Built Environment, Edinburgh Napier University where he is responsible for teaching various subject areas in real estate, including valuation and development / investment appraisal to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has previously worked as a Course Director at Leeds Beckett University and as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Portsmouth where, apart from being involved in research activities, he was Course Leader for the MSc Real Estate Management programme. His research interests span a range of areas around social capital, social sustainability, complexity theory, and land tenure systems in developing countries. His most recent research project, where he was a Co-Investigator, involved investigating the relationship between Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and residential property values. This Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) Green Infrastructure Innovation project involved working with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and other partners to explore ways of increasing the uptake of green infrastructure in general and SuDS features in particular, especially in housing developments. Dr Moobela’s work in the area of ethnic diversity and community participation in planning and design, under the auspices of the British Academy, led to a series of dissemination activities in the South East of England. Notable among these was the development of initiatives aimed at re-using redundant community buildings, working with key stakeholders such as the South East Coastal Communities (SECC), local communities, parishioners and community-based organisations in Hampshire. He is also an experienced doctoral examiner and has published over 30 journal papers, book chapters and conference papers.
