Dr Francesca Soliman
Francesca Soliman
Lecturer
Biography | I joined Edinburgh Napier University as lecturer in criminology in 2021. My research examines the social harms linked to processes of borderisation, that is, the performance and enforcement of international borders, with a particular focus on its impact on border communities. In my work I seek to further develop the emerging discipline of zemiology as a tool to analyse the wider impact of border policies, but also to advance critical approaches towards states’ roles in constructing and addressing social problems more in general. I studied for my BA(Hons) in Criminal Justice (Probation Studies) at the University of Essex, and hold an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice and a PhD in Law from the University of Edinburgh. I am an associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy. |
