Matthew Thomson
Biography | Matthew is a research student at Edinburgh Napier University, where he also completed his BEng (Hons) in Cybersecurity & Forensics. His current research focuses on digital forensics, investigating the challenges posed by AI-generated and AI-manipulated images from a forensics perspective. This work aims to bridge the gap between generative AI (GenAI) and digital forensics, supporting the development of methods for detecting and mitigating the misuse of GenAI. Alongside his research, Matthew works as a teaching assistant within the School of Computing, supporting the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Digital Forensics and Penetration Testing. He is also a current volunteer with the SISCA PhD Conference, contributing to the wider research student community across Scotland, and an active attender of the INTERPOL Digital Forensics Working Group. |
