Biography I am a PhD Candidate at Edinburgh Napier University where my research focuses on the circular economy transition in small island destinations with the Orkney Islands as a case study. I am investigating how small islands features and the resulting islandness drive, enable and/or challenge the adaption of circular solutions in the regional tourism sector. I am developing expertise in the field of circular economy and tourism with a specific focus on islands and coastal areas. This combines with experience in sustainable tourism development projects, including community-based and ecotourism initiatives in Southeast Asia. I have covered a wide range of roles for a number of INGOs, from research to tourism product development, destination management planning, and worked as a sustainable tourism trainer for different projects.
Research Interests Circular economy in the context of tourism sector. I am particularly interested in understanding the role of island territorial characteristics in driving, hampering and enabling circular entrepreneurship in tourism.
