Dr. Peter Buwert
Biography | I am a design educator and researcher whose expertise lies in the ethics of design, with a particular focus on visual communication design. My research broadly revolves around the exploration of the extent to which ethical foundations can be discovered and productively activated from within the activity of designing itself and, at a social and political level, investigation of the potentials inherent within design activity to create or cast light on ethical blind-spots by drawing our attention away from or towards issues of significance within society. My current research activity is focussed around the use of philosophical thought experiments as learning devices within lifelong design education, as well as iteratively testing and developing innovative ways of using playful, participatory design-fiction within deliberative democratic processes for community empowerment. If you are interested in undertaking a PhD in an area relating to the ethics of design, please contact me for an informal discussion. |
