Biography Ms Chrysoula Pantsi is an MSc Civil Engineer, FHEA, member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and previously a member of the Hydro Nation Forum Scotland (2015-2022) and has acquired both academic and industrial experience.
She has been a lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University for 10 years and since then has been the module leader for Sustainable Water Resources Management (postgraduate level) and Project Management (undergraduate level). She has also been the module leader and taught other undergraduate and postgraduate modules over the years such as Fluid Mechanics, Geo-environmental Engineering and project-based modules such as Integrated Engineering Design. All these years she has also been teaching (face-to-face and online) two modules in Shanghai Normal University. During her lectures she encourages the use of innovative methods of teaching, authentic learning while she has also developed and maintained over the years great relationships with industrial links who get involved in the modules and enhance the students’ learning experience.
Chrysoula has an interest in sustainability and reducing the impacts from flooding and hence, she currently pursues a PhD in the hydraulic performance of permeable pavements. Other research interests include River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs), Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), Environmental Impact Assessment/Strategic Environmental Assessment (EIA/SEA), Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), Public Participation on RBMPs /IWRM/EIA.
While in this post Chrysoula has also taken over some important roles within the School with the most key role being the Student Experience and Retention Lead (during Covid and post-Covid era), has been a member of different forums from student to senior level that included being part of strategic decision-making. She also provides support and guidance to students through her role as a Personal Development Tutor (PDT).
Chrysoula also has extensive industrial experience. She has previously worked as a Civil Engineer and Project Manager. During that experience she had been part of the design team of the largest hotel in northern Greece, processed a portfolio of over 20 properties and the projects that she had been responsible for ranged from domestic dwellings to multi-dwelling buildings and commercial units.
