Biography Steven, a lecturer and overseas programme leader for Sport and Exercise Sciences, started his career in the British Army, firstly in the Scots Guards and latterly in the Royal Army Physical Training Corps (RAPTC). During his time in the RAPTC, he taught and developed training and rehabilitation programmes for military personnel on operational activities. He also provided sport science support and consultancy for those representing the armed forces and UK in several sporting disciplines. He is an active researcher who continues to develop and teach theory and practical courses to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Research Interests Understanding young peoples experiences of, and (dis)engagement with, sport.
Psychology and Health (mental health and well-being).
Motivational climates.
Measurement of activity.
Teaching and Learning Steven has been a lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University since 2010. In 2013, Steven was appointed programme leader for the newly launched overseas part-time Sport and Exercise Sciences course in Singapore. In this capacity, Steven continues to facilitate the development of this course, and was instrumental in the facilitation and development of the full-time programme in 2018.
