Seeds of comfort and hope
2020 - 2021

Description Awarded a SPCC grant (£130) in November 2020 for ‘Seeds of Comfort and Hope’, a project to supply seeds/bulbs to community groups, including PWLD, to create small-scale remembrance gardens encouraging reflection on loss during Covid. Photographs of the flowers in bloom will form an exhibition.

Cancer Care workshop, Edinburgh: Chair and organiser with the Managed Care Network for Learning Disability

Description Workshop in con-junction with the Learning disability Managed Care Network. I invited speakers and hosted the day. I brought together good practice from teams looking at cancer screening around the central belt of Scotland. It also enable health and social care staff to present as well as people with learning disabilities.

Description I am the lead for the conference organising the administration and chairing the steering group. To bring together a range of researchers, health and social care practitioners, carers and people with intellectual disabilities to share learning about the cancer and cancer screening across the world. This symposium is aimed at addressing challenges, barriers and solutions to reduce cancer and cancer screening inequalities.

Description Palliative care /ReSPECT workshop: in-conjunction with Managed Care Network for learning disability February 2019. I organised the speakers and chaired the event.
To explore ReSPECT (a process for personalised recommendations for a person’s clinical care in a future emergency) and current research and Government thinking on palliative care and the implications for learning disability.
