Bridging the evidence gap: how to use the wealth of public service data to transform policymaking
2025

Recognition Type Invited Speaker
Description This is a session run with colleagues from Scottish Government in which we will reflect on the potential of administrative data to policy.

Summary of content to be covered

Good government policy needs good evidence. But good quality evidence is expensive and time-consuming to produce. Using the wealth of public sector data available, and joining it up, has the potential to transform evidence-based policymaking. In this workshop, find out from the Administrative Data Research (ADR) Scotland team about the value of administrative data and data linkage. Learn how public sector data can be used for policy evaluation and hear an example of how government and academia work together to better understand the nursing and midwifery workforce.
