Dr Gail Norris
Biography | Gail Norris is a registered midwife who has spent over ten years working with pregnant women and their families, and latterly as a team midwife in Forth Valley. Gail began her career in higher education in 2003 at Edinburgh Napier University. Gail was the Lead Midwife for Education from 2014 - 2020. Gail is part of the School's Senior Leadership team and holds the position of Associate Dean, International . Gail in her role as Lead Midwife for Education has fostered strong links with clinical practice, particularly Lothian , Forth Valley, Fife and Borders. Gail is also a member of the Maternity Services Liaison Committee , enabling a strong link with the users of the maternity services. Her research interests include obesity, particularly during childbirth and midwifery education. Gail is a Senior Teaching Fellow, and currently teaches both pre-registration and post registration students. Gail has a keen interest in Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) research methodology and facilitates an IPA research group within the School of Health and Social Care. Gail has a strong interest in respectful midwifery care and is currently leading projects in respectful midwifery care working with midwives in Vietnam. |
