Convex neural network synthesis for robustness in the 1-norm (2024)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Drummond, R., Guiver, C., & Turner, M. C. (2024, July). Convex neural network synthesis for robustness in the 1-norm. Presented at 6th Annual Learning for Dynamics & Control Conference, Oxford, England

With neural networks being used to control safety-critical systems, they increasingly have to be both accurate (in the sense of matching inputs to outputs) and robust. However, these two properties are often at odds with each other and a trade-off ha... Read More about Convex neural network synthesis for robustness in the 1-norm.

Recent Findings on Strong Integral Input-To-State Stability for Forced Lur'e Systems (2018)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Guiver, C., & Logemann, H. (2018, September). Recent Findings on Strong Integral Input-To-State Stability for Forced Lur'e Systems. Paper presented at UKACC 12th International Conference on Control (CONTROL), Sheffield, UK

We would like to present recent theoretical results on the strong integral Input-to-State Stability (strong iISS) for the following class of finite-dimensional, continuous-time forced Lur'e systems.

Simple adaptive feedback control for positive state control systems (2016)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Guiver, C., Logemann, H., & Townley, S. (2016, September). Simple adaptive feedback control for positive state control systems. Paper presented at POSTA 2016, the 5th International Symposium on Positive Systems, Rome, Italy

A stability/instability trichotomy for non-negative Lur'e systems (2014)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Bill, A., Guiver, C., Logemann, H., & Townley, S. (2014, July). A stability/instability trichotomy for non-negative Lur'e systems. Presented at 21st International Symposium on Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems, Groningen, The Netherlands

We identify a stability/instability trichotomy for a class of non-negative continuous-time Lur'e systems. Asymptotic as well as input-to-state stability concepts (ISS) are considered. The presented trichotomy rests on Perron-Frobenius theory, absolut... Read More about A stability/instability trichotomy for non-negative Lur'e systems.

Controllability for positive discrete–time linear systems with positive state (2014)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Guiver, C., & Townley, S. (2014, July). Controllability for positive discrete–time linear systems with positive state. Presented at The 21st International Symposium on Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems, Groningen, The Netherlands

Controllability of componentwise nonnegative discrete-time linear systems is considered. The key difference here from the well-established positive systems theory is that we permit the case where the input takes negative values, provided that the sta... Non-dissipative boundary feedback for elastic beams (2010)
Presentation / Conference Contribution
Guiver, C., & Opmeer, M. R. (2010). Non-dissipative boundary feedback for elastic beams. In Proceedings of the 19th International Symposium on Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems - MTNS 2010

We show that a non-dissipative feedback that has been shown in the literature to exponentially stabilize an Euler-Bernoulli beam makes a Rayleigh beam and a Timoshenkobeam unstable.
