Abstract

Diabetes is a growing scourge in Mauritius, and the complications associated with it have major implications for public health in terms of high social and economic burden and low quality of life (QoL). The aim of the study was to measure the satisfaction level of diabetics with the diabetes management system in Mauritius. The study also assessed the success factors affecting the QoL of diabetics and their willingness to adopt pervasive healthcare systems (PHSs) for diabetes monitoring. A cross-sectional survey was carried out, and three well-validated scales, including the Mauritius version of the Audit of Diabetes-Dependent Quality of Life (ADDQoL), the Diabetes Treatment Satisfaction Questionnaire (DTSQ), and Technology Acceptance questionnaire, were used. Based on the statistical analysis and findings, future research directions are defined to identify the critical factors for the adoption of PHSs, which could significantly help to improve the diabetes management system in Mauritius.
