Abstract

This chapter presents a comprehensive framework for integrating artificial intelligence (AI) literacy into higher education (HE), based on a case study at a UK higher education institution. Recognising the increasing influence of AI in society and the workplace, the chapter argues for a multifaceted approach to AI education that is discipline-specific, applied, and ethically grounded. Drawing from the principles set forth by the UK Russell Group, the framework proposes a practical method for how educators can integrate AI literacy into the curriculum within the context of their own practice. Evaluation data are used to highlight the effectiveness of the AI intervention, as well as drawing out limitations to its implementation.
