Abstract

Quality of Life is an important aspect of everyday functioning to patients with a primary diagnosis of schizophrenia. The multifactorial nature of schizophrenia enmeshed within a biopsychosocial phenomena and the impact of pharmacological therapy makes the accurate assessment of quality of life in this group highly complex. Consequently, the development and evaluation of instruments designed to assess the concept is vital in this group. This chapter will assess the issues involved in assessing quality of life in this unique group of patients.
