Abstract
Investigation of the structural behaviour of medium density fibreboard, MDF, panels used as a flooring system under static loading conditions. Properties of the panel and structural support rails were tested as separate components to determine their behaviour
The flooring systems performed well as composite units due to the connection stiffness provided by panels and structural rail supports. The failure loads, even at the weakest areas within the floors, were in excess of 2.5 times the recommended design concentrated load.
