Abstract

These slides were presented at the 17th annual geomechanics from micro to macro conference in 2020. They detail the comparison of the well known, and commonly used, relative breakage parameter used to assess the degree of particle breakage in soils. The parameter is compared to the grading entropy coordinates proposed by Lőrincz (1986). It is shown that grading entropy coordinates are more sensitive when used to assess particle breakage than the commonly used relative breakage parameter.
