This paper presents an enquiry into the suitability of virtual reality technology as the principal training method for a large printing unit. Contemporary studies investigating the VR training methods had proved their significant results in minimising the learning curve. Large printing equipment can be characterised as high-end technological, expensive equipment which requires special training for proper operation. Moreover due to size constrains (paper feeding, 5 printing towers, drying area and cutting machine) it is costly to run training courses through a preset unit. This can also project additional issues and difficulties as most of the equipment ordered from different printing industry plants are customised to their printing needs. Therefore the training “default” unit is used as a generic level of knowledge transferring is somewhat irrelevant of the final product acquired by the plant.
