Abstract

In this talk David Haynes looks at ways in which metadata can be used to improve the management of information resources. He discusses the practical applications of metadata in six main areas:
Information resource identification and description
Information retrieval and discovery
Managing the information lifecycle
Managing intellectual property rights
Supporting e-commerce and e-government
Information governance.

This session is for anyone involved in information and knowledge management roles, and who wishes to gain a better understanding of practical ways of exploiting metadata in the organisation.
