Abstract

This reports the findings of a wide ranging investigation of mountaineering tourism on the 7,134metre Lenin Peak on the Kyrgyz/Tajikistan border. The nature of current tourism demand and supply are investigated and a range of key issues and problems associated with this tourism activity are identified. A number of potential solutions regarding the longer term sustainability of this tourism are outlined.
