Timber grading seminar for sawmillers.

Ridley-Ellis, Daniel

Authors

Abstract

This grading seminar will give you a crash course in timber grading, what it is, how it is done and how it is likely to change in future. It aims to demystify timber grading, tackle some widely held misconceptions, and tell you the things sawmillers need to be aware of to improve profitability, and guard against risks to individual businesses and the structural timber market as a whole. The timber resource in the UK is changing, technology is advancing and European Standards are undergoing significant modifications that will affect both yield, and the cost of factory production control. This seminar will bring you the latest position informed by standards committee work, and research conducted by the SIRT network.
