Design of broadband slotted ground plane microstrip antenna for 3G communication

Abstract
Designs for small, lightweight and low profile broadband antennas, able to operate within the 3G frequency band, are proposed and investigated. By inserting different shapes of slot in the ground plane and loading the antenna with high permittivity, the desired bandwidth and the required size of microstrip antenna can be achieved. Three different slotted ground microstrip antennas are realised and shown to be suitable for 3G mobile communication. Practical results are in good agreement with predictions
