Biography | Dr Dotun Ayeni joined the Business School ENU as a full-time Lecturer in Human Resource Management in October 2024, following the award of her PhD in Management from the University of Edinburgh Business School in July 2024. During her doctoral studies, she gained substantial teaching and research experience, as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of Edinburgh. Dotun also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (Higher Education) from the University of Edinburgh, an MSc in International Human Resource Management from the University of Edinburgh Business School, a Master’s in Managerial Psychology from the University of Lagos, and a BA (Hons) in European Studies from the University of Ibadan- Nigeria's premier university. Her research interests spans Human Resource Management, Organisational Behaviour, and Digital Technology and AI, with a particular focus on areas such as Idiosyncratic Deals (customised, non-standard working arrangements for high-value employees), Talent Management Practices in African Firms, Psychological Contracts and HRM Personalisation. She is particularly interested in how organisations in complex and highly volatile environments manage employer-employee relationships and how technology influences employee experiences and organisational structures. Outputs from her PhD thesis titled Idiosyncratic Deals in Context- A three-Paper Thesis, were recognised with a best paper nomination at the Academy of Management in 2022 and earned her the University of Edinburgh Business School’s exemplary Paper Award in 2023. While at Edinburgh University, Dotun served in a student representative capacity on the Research Degrees, Research Committee, and the Postgraduate Board of Studies Committees, receiving an award for her contributions in these roles. Dotun’s work has been published in several peer-reviewed outlets, and she regularly presents her research at leading international conferences. She has also co-authored industry reports and serves as a reviewer for high-impact journals falling within the remit of HRM, Work, and Organisation. Dotun brings extensive industry experience to her academic role, having worked for over 15 years in the HR field- 12 of which were spent in leadership roles. Prior to academia, she was Principal Consultant and Founder at F316, a Lagos-based HR consultancy where she consulted for companies like Viacom Africa (now Paramount Africa), Smooth Promotions (Including HipHopWorld Magazine and HipTV), ID Africa, and OneWildCard. She also co-founded and served as Talent Director at Blackhouse Media (BHM)- an international communications consultancy, and worked as a Human Resources Advisor at Rosaab International, a multinational infrastructure development company. Dotun is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a Chartered Member of both the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) UK and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Nigeria. She is also an active member of the Academy of Management (AoM), the European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology (EAWOP), and the British Academy. |
