Biography Dr Adam Mahoney is a Consultant Chartered Forensic Psychologist who has approximately 20 years experience working in various prison establishments. This includes 10 years working as a Psychology Manager within the Scottish female prison estate. His research and practice based interests include gender responsive approaches to female offending and interpersonal trauma.

Dr Mahoney has a well-established psychotherapeutic practice which predominantly focuses on helping survivors of interpersonal trauma as well as alleviating other emotional difficulties in addition to reducing the risk of violent and other offending behaviours. Since 2008 he has worked on integrating mindfulness and compassion-focused approaches into his therapeutic work and has design a number of different interventions to help survivors recover from their abusive experiences.

He has recently taken up a lectureship in forensic psychology at Edinburgh Napier University and continues to provide consultancy based services to various forensic organisations.

Projects that fit current work stream interests in terms of examining the impact of interpersonal trauma, violent behaviour, female offending as well as the intersection between these areas are particularly welcomed.
