Ms Fiona-Jean Howson FJ.Howson@napier.ac.uk
Lecturer
Given the centrality of the Programme Leader role in influencing the student learning experience, this session will explore the implementation of a university-wide strategy designed to empower and support Programme Leaders in the planning, delivery and quality assurance of the student learning experience. Delegates will be able to discuss the complexity and challenges involved in transforming academic practice within Edinburgh Napier University and explore strategies through which institutional and local agreement has been engendered.
A comprehensive model of undergraduate programme leadership will be presented, future developments in postgraduate and international leadership debated and the role of champions explored. A convivial exploration of the opportunities and obstacles that this Programme Leading Project (and the presenter) encountered should provide a stimulating and lively context for further debate. Central to this session will be will be the facility for delegates to discuss the applicability of this strategic intervention within their local contexts and explore the potential for a Small Developments Project.
