This chapter presents the theory and practice of the management/leadership/education balance which characterises effective Talent Development Environments (TDEs). It locks to the preceding chapters, and to later chapters on skill acquisition. Also it emphasises the need for coherence in the support environment, with home and school contributions structured to optimise consistency and complimentarity. It offers a description of the key issues revolving
around the development process and outlines features of effective practice within TDEs
