Lecturer
This chapter focuses on both the normal physiology during the early postpartum period and the pathophysiology that can occur including emotional distress and more serious mental health complications.
A significant section of the chapter is given to sepsis recognition and treatment.
There is discussion within the chapter about the importance of escalating any concerns to ensure women receive the correct treatment and care should any complications arise.
