Curriculum Review through external engagement

Abstract

The current curriculum provision in the Tourism & Intercultural Communications Subject Group is going under an extensive review to reflect the needs of current and future demand. The changing nature of the discipline, student demographics, opportunities offered by new learning technologies, trends in student retention, progression, and achievement, and changing expectations of professional bodies, including industry representatives, have been some driving factors that led to that decision.
The team decided to follow a bottom-up approach to reflect as many views as possible, following a lengthy and laborious consultation process with several stakeholders, internally and externally. The consultation process has been completed and the findings are gradually implemented. The review is expected to be completed by the end of the next academic year (summer 2025). After all, every curriculum review aims to enhance student learning, engagement, experience, and outcomes.
