Lecturer
The aims of Week 1 can be encapsulated as follows:
- To promote active learning, respect for diversity, individual needs & ways of learning
- To provide students with resources and methods to cope with University life
- To offer a holistic approach to Week 1 that applies to all levels, stages and modes of delivery across the University.
- To engender a sense of community and a feeling of belonging to Napier University.
Key underpinning principles to Week 1:
a) that there will need to be different components of the Week 1 depending on the level and trimester involved;
b) that, in general terms, Week I-Trimester 1-Year 1 will require the most central organisation and management since it will involve matriculation and NSA activities;
c) that Week 1 in other trimesters and at other stages will require less central organisation and may in some cases be based entirely within Schools;
d) that there should be academic activities involved in all occurrences of Week 1 (but given that, no formal module-related teaching will be undertaken).
