Abstract

This article investigates a new beam-steerable array antenna characterized by its high radiation performance, tailored for upcoming cellular networks like 5G and 6G. The emphasis here is on integration within smartphones, which pose challenges due to their limited space and complex architecture. The design approach is simple and intended for integration into the mainboards of future portable smart devices. It features eight number of modified Yagi-dipole radiators aligned in a 1x8 linear array. These compact resonators utilize microstrip-line feeding techniques. The proposed phased array configuration achieves a frequency range of 28-31 GHz, delivering more than 80% efficiency and a radiation gain of 12dBi.
